Falconry Displays & Experiences

Hawks & Squawks is our falconry centre here on the farm. Join us for falconry displays and private experiences. 

Manor Farm Park & Woodlands is located on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.

Belinda Bird is our resident expert. She's been training birds of prey since the early 1990s. Her collection boasts 12 male and female birds, all housed in purpose-built aviaries here on the farm.

  • Enjoy a falconry display at 1pm seven days a week. 
  • An additional 11.30am show is offered during weekends and school holidays. 

Visitors to the farm are welcome to look around the aviaries seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. You'll see: 

  • Buzz, a Harris Hawk.
  • Carrie Fisher, a female Crested Caracara.
  • Emelia, a female Lugger Falcon.
  • Griffin, a male American Kestrel.
  • Jemima, a female European Kestrel.
  • Luna, a female Barn Owl.
  • Reggie, a male Bengal Eagle Owl.
  • Romeo, a male Black Kite.
  • Roo, a female Harris Hawk.
  • Valdemort, a female Turkey Vulture. 
  • Watto, a male European Kestrel.
  • Wookie, a White-Faced Owl. 

Entrance to Hawks & Squawks falconry centre and the flying displays are included in the usual cost of entry to the farm park and woodlands. Private experiences are available to pre-book at an additional cost, detailed below.

All displays and experiences are weather permitting. We do everything we can to ensure activities are available as advertised but it is not always possible. To avoid disappointment, please phone ahead to see what is available on the day you plan to visit: 01509 852525.  

Flying displays

Our 15-minute flying displays take place daily at 1pm, with an additional morning show at weekends and during school holidays at 11.30am. 

Join us at Hawks & Squawks as two of our birds of prey showcase their talents. Learn some fun facts about these impressive birds and take a seat as birds of prey fly over your head, reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour. If you're lucky, you might find a bird takes a shine to you and decides to land on your shoulder! 

For safety reasons, once the show has started, we ask you not to leave your seat. Please also be aware that our birds are fed on chicks produced especially for birds of prey, which some visitors may not wish to see.

Valentine's Falconry Experience

If you’d like to give a loved one something different this Valentine’s Day, you might like to try our special Valentine’s Falconry Experience.

Experience a Barn Owl and a Harris Hawk flying to your hand and learn about the variety of birds we have here in our falconry centre.

Available only at 2pm on Wednesday 14th February 2024, this 45-minute falconry experience for two people is priced at £80 and includes entry to the farm park and woodlands (open from 10am to 5pm).

VIP Experience

In a private group of up to six people, our one hour VIP Experience is perfect for anyone who loves birds of prey.

  • Learn about three of our birds before one is flown to your hand. 
  • Available five days a week at 2pm, weather permitting.
  • Choose from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. 
  • Priced at £30 per person, in addition to the cost of general admission to the farm park and woodlands. 
  • Suitable for adults and children aged four and above. 

Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. If the accompanying adult is simply supervising and not taking part in the falconry experience, there is no additional charge for the adult as long as farm park entry has been paid or the adult holds a valid Manor Farm membership. 

If the weather is not suitable for flying, we will contact you the day before your experience to rearrange.
