Welcome to Manor Farm Park & Woodlands

Manor Farm Park & Woodlands is a family visitor attraction in East Leake, on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. We are open daily to visitors and home around 120 animals ranging from small rodents and reptiles, to chickens, waterfowl and peafowl, birds of prey, sheep, pigs, goats, llamas, equines, wallabies, cattle and deer.

About the role

We’re looking to recruit a Farm Centre Worker to join us on a permanent basis (subject to a three-month probationary period), to work within a small team providing care to all animals at our farm park, establishing good customer relations, and maintaining administrative and health and safety procedures.

Working hours will be Sunday to Thursday from 8.30am to 5.30pm, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day. All staff are required to work weekends and Bank Holidays, including Christmas or Boxing Day, and staff may be required to work different days to ensure cover.

You will be required to work alongside colleagues in ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard each day. Daily tasks cover, but are not limited to: mucking out various animal enclosures; feeding; movement of animals as required; training; enrichment; public talks and displays; general housekeeping such as sweeping and mopping; warmly greeting our visitors and answering any queries they may have; hosting animal activities for our visitors; and general maintenance such as weeding and mowing.

Assistance with other areas of the business will also be required at times, for example enriching the customer experience on event days and farm-related tasks such as bailing.

The ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be hard-working and efficient, positive and pro-active, and able to work on their own initiative, unsupervised, as well as part of a team. They will have compassion for our animals and be comfortable in communicating with colleagues and visitors.

An animal care qualification or previous experience working with animals in a professional setting is required, ideally along with previous customer service experience. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Please note that this is a physically demanding job and the successful applicant must enjoy working outside come rain or shine!

Next steps

Please send a CV and brief covering email to [email protected] before Friday 24th March 2023. Working interviews will take place shortly after this date. We are hopeful that the successful candidate will begin working with us towards the end of April or early May 2023.
